Welcome

It is our privilege to welcome you to the 1st Chinese-German cometary science workshop, which is going to be held in the Chinese city of Nanjing in Spring 2019.

The overarching theme of this workshop is "From KBOs to JFCs: evolution of small icy bodies in the solar system". The workshop will cover topics ranging from dynamical evolution of KBOs and JFCs, to the induced evolutionary changes in chemistry, surface/sub-surface properties, morphology, to their impact on today's observable characteristics of the small icy bodies. We will discuss about the contributions that data from ESA's Rosetta mission have made and will make to our understanding of cometary activity as well as the origin and evolution of our solar system. We will also discuss about latest investigations of main-belt comets/active asteroids.

We hope to find out to which degree our understanding of small icy bodies is evolving/progressing; what are the burning questions; and how to best address them.

Please join us and make this workshop an enjoyable and fruitful meeting!
